What I've Be Up To

Not that much has happened since the last entry.

Yesterday and today I built up a a new small box to act as a secondary nameserver for the whitestar. Should be real slow but it does not need to do that much.

Tonight there is a Buffy marathon on tv over 5hrs of Buffy eps to watch.

Still trying to find a decent webborwser that doesn't crash all the time.

Been drinking lots and lots of coffee which is prob bad for me but.....it tastes nice anyway.

Am prob getting a new [second hand] box to put replace the current whitestar. A dual processor p133 which should be fun to play with.

hacked some more on mail logging. For something so simple it is taking a long time. Almost finished though.

Went out to KV again for tai chi. Good class limited numbers though. Found out how much I had forgotten of the yang lu chan form.

Got home and watched the end of 'hell spawn' on tv.

Nothing muched seems to have happened on Sunday other than watching tv. Sort of boring.

Did some shopping for food with andrew.

Did soem updates on andrews box. Now has pybliographer installed for him to play with.

In the evening went to the capping show. Fun as usual.

Got the second network card recognised on driods machine. Took about 10 min or so. Should have been much harder I think.

All in all a cruisey day.

Got my ihug cheque away only slightly late :(

Went into town to get some coffee and food. Tried to help Richard with some stuff on a clients box which was running slow with no reason, still not sure why.

Grabbed food etc and headed over to earthlight with richard. Had some coffee at home with richard, tim and daniel.

Fun time.

Watched snoops and the pretender on tv and tehn went and played on the computer for a while.

Help droid with some network config stuff then bed. Thur May 11

Did some work on logging today. Nothing great though. Still need to get FP up and running along with getting stuff for web email working.

Threw together some baked beans with egg etc on toast for tea.

Watched at bit of tv.

Not much done today either, this is getting to be a bad trend.

Went out and got some more coffee for the machine.

Made tea with lots of chillies. Wasn't bad.

Not much done today. Up late. Went out to see what the KV tai chi club was like in the evening. Long walk but it was worth it. I expect to go back there again. Mon May 8

Coffee machine arrived today to the horror of no coffee grounds. This lead to a rapid trip into town to get some and about 3 cups of coffee being drunk afterwards.

After coffee I did some stuff on frontpage extensions.

Found that I acidently upgaded the server that I admin last night [full upgrade using apt] fortunately nothing seems have been broken which is a good thing.

Watched some TV 'er' is such a good series. One of the few things that I would go out of my way to see.

Oh well time to get an early night I think.

No news from spudgun yet on the ultra.

Watched the making of 'Pitch Black' sound like it will be a must see movie

Played round with xchat and found out how to disable keyboard focus for the buttons that used to grot me off. Works fine now most happy. xchat is nicer than irssi.

Help doid get his linux box up and running. It now does the things that it should which is a good start and very nice now that it is over.

Looked at how you would do dynamic dns type stuff.

Took a look at the latest verionof mozilla. It is gettting better but is not quite there yet.

Played some quake.

new coffee machine is due tomorrow must go into town and get some more coffee.

Got up late.

Ate food and played round with gnome stuff. Thought about compiling all the game stuff from sources but it ended up that it just wasn't worth the hassle so I resinstalled what I had from packages. Well mostly anyway [not sure what is missing yet.

zope broke after the system crashed. Not sure why - went in and edited one of the startup scripts which I think was naffed and it is now working.

watched some silly tv and sort of looked at some text on irc.

All in all not a greatly productive day.

Wrote a really good entry and had it all die with a system crash :(

Coffee machine is now on the way. Should be here by monday or tuesday.

Talked to spudgun about the sparc ultra-i not sure what the situation is on that yet. Would be nice to get but am not holding my breathe.

Downloaded and compiled xfree86 4.0 seems to be working fine. Not sure how stable it is though.

Watched the pretender on tv not a bad show.

Still a bit sick.

Matt visited he has had car problems soemthing broken insude the engine. Sounds expensive.

been ill. up late [well after lunch].

New coffee machine is on the way - yay.

fixed stuff on whitestar so that mail logs are generated and sent out automagically once per week.

moved diary over to using a zope based system, I may even keep it up to date this way

Need to update bind on whitestar and install FP 2000.

Chatted some to Paul in OZ via icq.

Watched mucho TV.

Talked to guy in Chch about buying a coffee machine that he has for sale. Sounds nice.

Looked at using imp for web mail on whitestar doesn't seem to work quite the way that I expect it too [ie doesn't go yet].

really ill - didn't get anything useful done today other than putting in a domain for otestone.co.nz on whitestar.

talked to spudgun. May be able to get a sparc ultra-1 from up his way - would be somethign that could be real un to play with.

Spent way too much time looking through stuff on ebay.

looked at w3mail as an option for webmail on whitestar. Looks horrible to me now that I have looked at it. May write my own if I have time [can't be that hard, can it?]

Tai Chi is moving to a new set of places and new times - will have to check out what the KV club is like now that I will have tuesdays free.
